About Me

A journalist by profession, engineer by qualification and a writer at heart, I have found my calling in the intricacies of English language. It was engineering that I studied, but the itch for writing made me to pursue my passion after education. I firmly believe that we need to pursue our passions if we are to lead meaningful lives. Newspapers have always captivated me, and my ultimate aim is to become the Editor-in-chief of a newspaper -- which I also consider as my reason for existence. Therefore, I took the inevitable plunge into the world of journalism a little over four years ago, after a forgettable stint in the IT industry. As a sub-editor and then reporter at a leading newspaper in the South, articles, book and movie reviews have flowed. I later worked at an international news agency before moving to a leading news paper in Bangalore, as a Senior Editor. When I am not thinking about news, I unwind by either blogging or listening to music -- Classical, Western, Pop, Jazz and Heavy Metal -- or read books. Be it Michael Jackson, Madonna or Madurai Mani Iyer, they find a place on my playlist . I do read just about anything, from Jeffrey Archer to Mario Puzo, R K Narayan, John Grisham and Dan Brown to the Dina Thanthi newspaper and its sensational headlines! And yes, I am also a humorous and an easy-going guy who loves to take life with a pinch of salt! Of late, I have been bitten by the language-bug and have begun learning French. Although I vowed not to ever study after my UG, I feel the time has come for me to go back on those words. Most importantly, with marriage expected to be a journey for a lifetime, my partner can expect me to be her pillar of support at all times, in good times as well as bad. I enjoy living in the present, with a peep on the future. Orthodox and unconventional, atheist and believer -- I am a bit of all them. As an afterthought, I would desire my spouse to have an inclination for the arts -- music (any genre) or dance, although this is not in any way a must, for yours truly is at best a bathroom singer! And yes, I do expect my spouse to be a little practical, for I am known to go crazy; a good sense of humour would also help! :) :) PS: As regards the professional career of my spouse, I strongly feel it is a decision best left to her. Neither will she be forced to quit her career nor will she be pressured to continue to work if she decides to call it a day.
