Chaurasia word has its reference in the Vedas of Hinduism. This community basically refers a Brahmin community in north India. The word chaurasia has a deep meaning which shows all the origin and transfer of soul. The word has been derived from the Sanskrit word '˜chaturashiitah' which refers eighty four and this eighty four represents the Yonis in which the human soul has to move. Every species which exist on Earth belong to a particular Yoni. This community is also known as a part of the Barai community. The Barai community sells betel vine leaf. This community has a good social status in Northern India. This community is also found in Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. They were basically involved in betel leaf trades. Now they are found in government and private sector jobs as well. They also do agriculture. They grow vegetables and trade them. They opt for various businesses and live in extended families. Their marriage is conducted by a Brahmin. Child marriage was prevalent but with the changing time, the child marriage has been eradicated. For conducting their marriage ceremony, they follow all the Vedic rituals. The Chaurasia brides wear traditional matrimonial outfit of Uttar Pradesh. She puts vermilion in the mid of the hair and put toe rings in toes which are the symbol of a married lady. The culture of the Churasias is quite open and clear. They do not allow second marriage but under certain situations one can remarry. Divorce is permitted. Widows and widowers can remarry. They celebrate almost all the festivals of Hinduism. They are quite clear with their cultural heritage and follow the traditions strictly.
